Hi, had the same issue but the answer is simpler than you think. You just need to press the long button once (located on the right side of the watch) and see what happens! Hope that helps

I have tried the side button but only able to get into apps. Have tried settings on phone and got the percentage eventually but that's not good enough

Sounds like you pressed the Digital Crown, and not the flat oval button next to the Digital Crown.

Tap this button (see picture)

DO NOT hold the button, as that brings up the Emergency calling display.

Ignore the suggestion about seeing the battery like on an apple watch by pressing the "long" button on the right side. I tried it 6 times and got nothing.

Also DO NOT hold the button, as that will bring up Emergency service and the power off icon.

Plus change the following setting

Settings -> Accessibility -> Side Button Click Speed

“Side Button Click Speed” can adjust the press and release timing, so you get the Control Center display every time. Adjusting The "Side Button Click Speed" is also useful for Apple Pay’s double press and release. There is “Default” (sub second timing of needed), “Slow” (up to a second between press and release), and “Slowest” (up to 2 seconds between press and release). I like the “Slow” setting.

NOTE: Slow and Slowest settings do not mean you have to wait a full second or 2 seconds between press and release. It just means you do not need to be super fast.

After the last update 17.2 I can not see the battery life on my watch. Not until it’s at 7% that’s not acceptable. How can I check the battery usage?

Press the oval side button momentarily to get the Control Center, which has the battery information.
