[Solved] Changes to modifier keys don't work for Magic Keyboard

Issue: I had a problem where my MacBook Pro would pick up the modifier key changes without problem but my Magic Keyboard would not abide the changes.

I solved the problem and other threads about this issue did not mention this solution so I wanted to share.

Hardware: I am on a MacBook Pro 2023 with M2 chip and I use external Apple Magic Keyboard (version 1.6.0).

Background:

• I setup my "Caps Lock" modifier key to act as "Escape" for my MacBook
• It worked
• Then, I connected my Magic Keyboard and using that
• Modifier key change did not take affect for Magic Keyboard

Solution:

• While the Magic Keyboard is connected, go to the Keyboard settings
• "Restore Defaults" for modifier keys
• Disconnect Magic Keyboard
• "Restore Defaults" once again for modifier keys in settings
• Then, set your changes for the modifier keys
• Connect your Magic Keyboard

This steps worked for me to fix the issue. I am not sure which part fixed it exactly but these are the steps I've taken.
