home button on i phone 12

I wish to turn off my i phone 12 but home button suddenly disappeared from the screen. What should be done to restore it? Thank you.

The iPhone 12 does not have a physical home button. If you were using assistive touch to put a virtual home button on the screen, turn that back on in settings.

It’s not necessary to power the device off, however.
