Docking station or just a hub?

After using a PC all my life at 75 I decided to get a a MacBook Pro for faster video and photo editing. Not disappointed at all but sometimes frustrated trying to set things up. One reason I decided to switch is it seems like the MacBook is more than capable of being used instead of a desktop. I have figured out how to use my laptop in clamshell mode with a BenQ PD 3220 u mpnitor and Samsung T7 external SSD along with a bluetooth keyboard and mouse. I am using the 3.5mm connection for some Kantu speakers and a subwoofer. So I am using one port for power/monitor, another for ssd, and the third for an ethernet to usb c connection. No room for a printer and I wonder if there is a difference between what dongles are used to connect the ethernet cable. Wifi is very weak in my place so I need a wired connection for my printer. For what I do I do not think I need an expensive dock, since I really need just one more port, but I could be wrong.

I know my monitor has a bunch of connections. For now I have a pc connected to the monitor using a display port while I use the thunderbird port for the Mac. I will get rid of the pc in a few months but for now would like something simple with a couple of regular usb ports and in ethernet connection. Any recommendations?
