Cannot update software

It fails each time I try installing

iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 10

An iPhone 6 Plus can only upgrade as far as iOS 12.5.7. Put the phone on a charger, ensure you are connected to a relIable Wi-Fi network, and choose Settings : General : Software Update. It should offer iOS 12.5.7.
