Turn off the full screen picture on an inbound caller ID

Can I turn off the full screen picture of an inbound call? This appears to be a new iOS 17 ‘feature’ and I do not want the identity of a caller available to anyone near my phone. The more discreet name and number alone is sufficient.

I am looking for this since the day I have updated my cellphones to iOS 17; because of the new layout of incoming calls and new layout of calling feature I feel I have done the biggest mistake of updating my iPhone to iOS 17.

There seems to be no option to turn off the “Incoming Photo” of the caller and even if you specifically go to the contact and delete the pic it still shows the large initials of the contact person who is calling you which is an annoying feeling to live with.

Apple please give an option to choose whether or not we want to see full size picture of the person who is calling us on our screens pls 🙏

Infuriating.

I want the iPhone I originally bought.

I don't want the "theyPhone" Apple decided to turn mine into.

Out of desperation, I started deleting the contact photos out of concerns for privacy. However, it still shows the Caller Name in Ginormous Letters that are viewable from the International Space Station.

When I was a kid, our parents taught us NOT to mess with other people's things. Looks like that principle skipped a few generations.

Going to Seattle this weekend. Pretty sure this thing is gonna get accidentally dropped from the Space Needle. Thank goodness for Apple Care.

Well, iOS is Apple's "thing". They own it. You just have a license to use it. You also have the option to turn off automatic upgrades, wait for a couple of weeks after an upgrade to read about the changes and what people liked or don't like. And then, you have a choice to not upgrade if you don't want to.

You also have the choice to buy a different sort of phone if iPhones don't meet your needs. However, the Android operating system belongs to Google/Alphabet and you only have a license to use that, too.

Feedback sent some time ago but no optimism it will even be read, let alone acted on.

It will be read. Whether or not it will be acted upon is another matter. If enough people complain, Apple may incorporate a change into a future update. But, unless it's an obvious bug like the inability to use custom tones as text tones that surfaced in iOS 17, the change will probably take time. It's also possible that Apple will decide for reasons they are unlikely ever to comment on, that they will not make the change.
