Apple Watch Ultra 2 VERY dim inside and dark enviroments..

Can you try the following: face your AW down so the Always On display gets triggered -> turn the flashlight on your iPhone on and point it at your watch. The display brightness should now increase, at least that is what is does on my Ultra 2 and didn’t do before installing WatchOS 10.1

You shouldn't have to shine a light at it to make it brighter, you should be able to read it in the dark, so I guess the brightness isn't fixed yet. :( I'm downloading the update right now, but I'm not hopeful.

I can confirm that WatchOS 10.1 does NOT fix the brightness issue. I wish I could use the dial to increase the brightness. I'm disappointed in the new double tap gesture too...but that's another topic.

I can confirm also, not fixed. I was in a pitch-black room and could not read the screen. My first Apple Watch experience and it's creating me some ULTRAx2 frustration. Come on Apple, this is basic usability, how did you flunk this one?? I am pulling my hair...!

I returned mine twice…. You can always purchase it again, if they ever fix it… Though I suspect they will not.… Even though it would take less than one line of code. Basically, all they would need to do is change a number associated with brightness level. Done.

Yeap, a very easy fix, and the most critical usability test they should have done. I'm personally waiting for two fixes: The dim Issue, and my complication are not updating at all no matter what I do. An hour later and my Modular Ultra Watch Face complications are not updating -- a double hit: Can't see anything in the dark with stale complication data... Isn't this supposed to be a sports watch?

Yeah returned my Apple Watch Ultra 2 to the Apple Store. I am back to my Apple Watch 4 and can read it clearly in any condition. I couldn’t read the Ultra2 in any dimly lit or even moderately lit room. Unbelievable!

I don’t know what the engineers at Apple were thinking when they came up with this software, they make it so bright during the day when you really don’t need it but at night if you’re out on a hike or a walk, you can’t even read the Watch or any of the complications totally ridiculous Steve Jobs would’ve taken care of this immediately

I just purchased the Apple watch 9 Hermes and the issue is even worse! I returned it - I am not spending $1300 on a watch that is unreadable in low to mid-light situations. I kept my 8 which is far superior; it still has the same issue but the 9 series is so much worse. I will not purchase another upgrade until I see there is a resolution to this issue that Apple knows about and ignores.

Indeed false advertising! Yes, Yes... How can they tout 3000 brightness when the watch is too dim to read anything in dark environments. Incredible. I will see if I can contact some media outlets about this. Heck, maybe even send Tim Cook an official letter about this.

I wouldn't bother - This is a known issue for at least the past 3 releases (or more.) They know about , but won't address it. Probably because it will be the most expensive release to date with the "fix"

MAJOR UPDATE: It looks like a fix is on the way. Sort of.

By all means it’s definitely not what we are expect with full control of brightness and there is still no way to disable the auto brightness, however it looks like they increased the brightness when awake from 1 nit to 2 nit when inside. It’s still bad but not as bad

The ultra watch two is terrible. I was walking home last night and wanted to use the map on my watch could not read it. This shouldn’t be happening even when I’m lying in bed and I get a text message. I can’t read it Apple Apple you need to come up with a fix.

Is it worth speaking here. Hope many talking here already raised a case with Apple, in my region surprisingly Apple support told me I’m the only one coming up with the dim issue in ultra-2. Kind of weird. the expensive lineup in its series with difficulty in reading the display in lowlight/ dark environments doesn’t make any sense at all

Besides the ultra tube being so dim in darker areas why would they make the brightness setting only go to three spots the lowest medium and the brightest why not give the option to slide it to the desired brightness but that’s another issue let’s just concentrate on why it’s so dim altogether Because even at its brightest, it’s still too dim to even read
