Apple Watch Ultra 2 VERY dim inside and dark enviroments..

Hello.

I just bought a very expensive Ultra 2 Watch. I am happy with the watch overall, but what totally ruins the experience is it is SO dim inside and in dark enviroments! I can hardly read it. There is no override available and the brightness is set to full. My son has a Series 6 and that is brighter in the same conditions. This cant be real? This so called "ULTRA" is more weak in brightness performance than an older regular Apple Watch. If there is something I HATE it is factory controlled auto stuff like this! We know the watch can be brighter so WHY on earth is it locked to a weak sensor that is WAY to low calibrated? I know its unfortunately not a hardware issue as ALL other Ultra Watch suffer from this ridicolous factory setting. Why can I not disable this auto dim or at least raise the lower minimum brightness. This is a disaster, as I can hardly read the watch in my office and living room where we have low light usually. This is almost a RETURN ISSUE for me! The fact that the user cannot set this setting when I bought and paid for the watch is a disgrace! And for those that reply its working as intended I can see by a search that hundreds of other users complain about this "error". This HAS to be corrected in a software update ASAP!

Just received my Apple Watch Ultra 2 today and loved it until nighttime. I cannot read my text messages at all because it’s so dim and the brightness feature does not do much. Please re-calibrate!!! This is unacceptable for a Watch at this price.

You'd think that some of the Apple engineers wear the watch as their own personal watch, right? They'd notice it right away.

This whole situation is so "un-Apple like". It feels like we're dealing with attorneys. Nobody at Apple will even acknowledge the issue or imply that a fix is imminent.

Disheartening behavior from one of the few companies that hadn't turned into garbage in the past few years.

It’s because they promised 999 hours of battery life when they can’t achieve that with a proper screen brightness, the watch only takes 30 minutes to fully charge I would be more than willing charge it every day if I can see it. I’m still struggling to see it as it’s to dim for me.

the AOD display is VERY VERY hard to see now. If you put on “night mode” it’s even worse. I don’t know who is working behind the scenes on this.

also all these bloggers are woke they are afraid to say anything negative about the watch in fear of being black balled.

omg, good to hear you're fine again.

I got the Series 9 the first day it was out. Was looking forward having a much better fitness tracker for outdoor MTB Xcountry and jogging. unfortunately in the dark season it turned out to be completely useless. Fortunately I kept my old series 4.

I returned the 9 and i'm back on 4 now...

It's a joke...

Now Apple has to realize with all the returns they’re getting for the nine and the ultra that something has to be drastically wrong. I’m hoping all the returns give them an incentive to fix the issues. Unfortunately, I’m too late and can’t return mine and I traded in my seven series which was working perfectly, I’ll know the next time to wait for reviews before I spend that kind of money

I agree with every word you said I’m here in New York it’s 7 AM. I have my table lamp on and I still can’t read the complications on my watch. This situation is really unbelievable why I spent $800 on a watch that is only good in the sunlight, I can kick myself too late to return traded in my seven series that was a mistake. I hope Apple is reading all these complaints and are working on a fix. I was a loyal Apple customer, but I’m losing faith in the company.

An elite sports watch, apparently, where you cannot see the screen in dark environments, and to top it off, some of my important complications do no update even after 30 minutes... It seems to me they are so obsessed with battery life that important functionalities have taken a huge hit. I was on the phone with support three times and all three times there was an abrupt hang up with the support ref....

The funny thing about night-mode is when you turn it on at night it’s almost 100 times worse than day mode you can’t see ANYTHING at night.

When the watch is in Always On Display Mode it is so dark you can’t even see it.

When the watch is in normal day mode and awake and you are in a dark room you STILL cannot see the screen. It looks like the brightness jumps from 1 nit to 2 nits

there needs to be some significant process redesign here as I don’t know how they could produce a watch and fail to notice that you cannot actually read the screen in a low light environments

all the bloggers are woke they keep saying how amazing the watch is but they are deathly afraid to cover this issue as they fear they will be canceled by Apple.

This is NOT a hardware issue. WatchOS 10 single-handedly rendered my Ultra 1 unreadably dark as well. And frankly the Ultra 1 was still in meed of a constant hack of pulling up the phone dialer, which brightened the screen…and would atay bright if you pushed the button to return to the dial. Watch OS 10 killed that work-around AND made it way dimmer. Not quite as dim as the Ultra 2…bit suddenly FAR WORSE than it was.

So… Apple managed to kill BOTH Ultra 2 AND Ultra 1’s low light usability.

My next step will be to try and get Apple to return my Ultra 1 back to version 9.

Ridiculous.

Same. I returned my ultra 2 got a new one. Same thing. The ‘geniuses’ had no idea about this problem. After speaking to 3 people in Apple support on 3 different occasions, none of which were aware i mentioned this forum and others. Then i was told that thsi is a ‘feature’ lol! Apparently its being ‘escalated’. We shall see what that means.
