Applications taking up too much space (2020 Macbook Pro)

When I go to manage my storage, it says I have over that over 175 GB in applications installed on my computer, when I know that is not the case. When it goes to the breakdown of which apps are taking up the most storage, my top application is the Sims 4, which takes up about 22 GB, then Steam which takes about 1.5 GB, then Google Chrome which takes 1.1 GB. Everything else is either pre-installed software on the computer or takes up such a small amount of data that I really do not think it could contribute to this massive difference.


It seems to me that something is hidden on my computer somewhere, although I'm looking everywhere I can and I can't find any big documents or files. I'm not entirely sure how to proceed here, so any advice would be helpful!

Try something like OmniDiskSweeper for a GUI to get a good look at itemized file size and location:
