Unlock process

It is now 6 days since I submitted a request and met all requirements to unlock iphone. This was a simple “”forgot my unlock code” and has turned into a nightmare. Apple needs to get their act together and offer a quicker resolution.

AT&T has nothing to do with activation lock.

You either need to provide Apple with the original receipt for the phone or regain access to your iCloud account to have the activation lock removed.

YOU are responsible for maintaining the credentials for your account. If you find that unacceptable, you should have been more diligent about securing your account and making sure you kept the correct login information.

Thanks for the picture and further explanation, it definitely helps make clear what you were asking. Us other customers answering and asking questions here are just trying to fully grasp what you really mean and actually happened so we can try to help you better.

Now, not to make you worry more, but did you already try resetting your Apple ID password before submitting this activation lock removal request? I ask because there are two things to keep in mind.

  1. If you haven't thoroughly attempted resetting the Apple ID password before requesting Apple remove the activation lock from their end it could result in a denial of the unlock request.
  2. If you have done the above, if/when they approve and remove the activation lock that means you cannot use this Apple ID on this phone again.

As KiltedTim said above, it is your responsibility to maintain your credentials, and Apple reiterates this a lot. While it can be frustrating the processes may take several days, it's because Apple is all about privacy and security and leave the control in the users' hands. If they made it too easy scammers would be a bigger issue.

Do you mean you forgot the passcode that unlocks you to your home screen?

Or is your iPhone in activation lock and you cannot sign into the Apple ID it is asking for?

I do realize it is Activation lock. I am sure of the password as I set it up, kept in my password keeper and have used several times. It now doesn't work. I have spent literally hours in trying to get it fixed: at the AT&T store (AT&T is my isp and location of purchase of the phone, with receipt), at the local Apple store where they could not fix this and said I have to call Apple with receipt; spent hours on the phone with Apple, including Tier II tech supervisor; submitted problem sheet and it said could take between 7 to 12 days to get a response. This time frame and service is unacceptable to me and I am not confident at this point that it will. I have attached an image of the phone message.
