I have an iPhone X running its latest iOS 16.7 and an Apple Watch 6 running watchOS 10.0.1. When I try to pair them the watch app gives an error "iPhone out of date - This Apple Watch requires a new version of iOS."
How can I get these 2 devices to pair?

The iPhone X can not update past iOS 16.7 per Apple dropping it from iOS 17.
With watchOS 10 you need to install iOS 17 on the iPhone Xs. See the 'Check your Apple Watch compatibility' section in:

This will not solve the problem. The request is for pairing with an iPhone X, and not the iPhone XS. I am having the same problem. Trying to pair my 3 year old series 6 watch with my old iPhone X. Not working. I'm going to be so very disappointed in Apple if I can't pair my **** watch. I'm already bummed that my wife's new Christmas present - Apple Watch SE (2023) won't work on her phone (my old) iPhone X. So instead, we were going to switch watches, and I would take her new watch with my newer phone (iPhone 12 Pro Max), and she would take my older watch to ensure it functions with the older phone. But not so fast!! It is giving me the same problem as this user has listed. Help?
