What has happened to Subscriptions?

I don't recall most of my Subscriptions and I don't know anything about most of the topics or what the questions are about. I don't recall asking so many questions about Numbers. Recently my queries have been mainly about connectivity and settings, trying to get my devices to work. I might have idly scanned some questions but with no useful input to offer, I wouldn't subscribe to them. It is disquieting that my Subscriptions mostly seem alien to me.

I’m not noticing a recent change for this.

The subscriptions can be for a specific thread (bell) and/or for a sub-forum (community) as a whole, that you have marked to follow. You may review and change that at any time. If you do not want to be subscribed to e.g. ‘Numbers’ anymore, then go there to the main page, look for the [✓Following] button, click it to uncheck, then it will change to deactivated [Follow].
