iPad Air 4th Generation SIM Card Slot not working

I have an iPad Air 4th Generation WiFi + Cellular in pristine condition - not a single scratch or dent, and it's been treated very well.

However, over the past 3 months, my cellular access has been getting increasingly flaky - dropping in and out.

Finally, it's cut out completely.

I removed the SIM card and tried it in another iPad, and the SIM card works. I also tried several spare SIMs, and the iPad Air 4th generation will NOT consistently pick up new SIMs. It seems like the SIM card reader has died. Very odd, since we don't switch SIMs often.

Are there any known recalls or issues with the iPad 4th Generation SIM card slot?

As described, your iPad has likely developed a hardware fault.

You would be best advised to visit the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) - where the technicians will be able to test and assess your iPad. If a fault is confirmed, you'll be in the best possible place to explore your available options.
