Contact Poster and Wallpaper Blur

I have read a few complaints about this issue and people keep saying go to the photo and turn off blur. That's not the issue as the blur option is not even on when this happens. I'm using IOS 17 and whenever I try to crop a photo to use as a wallpaper or even the new feature of Contact Poster, the image constantly blurs everything at the top half of the screen and it looks completely ridiculous.

I've read on other boards that Apple actually made this decision on their own and thought it would be a great feature of IOS 17 but I and many others disagree.

I am having the same issue. I have gotten the blur sometimes at the top and other times at the bottom. Each time I start over and hope for the best. Doing a close up of a face isn't possible because the bottom of the face will be blurred. What I am doing for now is pulling back so the face is clear and the bottom section blurred is body and background. There is something labeled depth effect but I can't figure out what it does. No matter what I have tried their is no way to eliminate the blur effect.

The best workaround I managed was to open a copy of the image on Paint 3D. Resize the image so it was smaller (on the centre of a white background) and then upload that image to icloud and use it. It means that I can have a sharp and unblurred image, albeit smaller and only in the centre of the poster and positioned so that it does not clash with where my name shows up ion the poster / card. For my purposes that is fine, but it wont suit everyone. Feels unnecessarily convoluted, but hope that is of some help!

Hi, I am having the same issue as above.

I've tried numerous different versions of my company logo, but every time I pinch to crop, the top blurs off meaning that I cannot get the logo and writing to sit in the middle of the screen away from the buttons.

My choices seem to be - blurry top of image - not great

Or my logo mixed in with he buttons which is a very confusing look

Any help would be really appreciated!

To improve understanding of the phenomenon, it would be highly beneficial if you could share a screenshot. Visual representations carry greater impact than written descriptions.

When you select the picture to be your wallpaper, you’ll see a “customize..”. Hit that. On page to the right you’ll see the pic as a blurry image. Hit the picture of the tear drop. The blur will suddenly clear. Make sure to select “Done” at the top right of the screen. Hope that helps. Just went through the steps before providing this info to make sure it worked correctly.
