iPhone 15 Pro Max Wi-Fi Issues

I Hope apple or others can help me out - I’m having issues with WiFi on the IPhone 15 Pro Max

myself and others are having issues with using WiFi and 160hz - many have raised issues on Reddit posts - some cannot connect to there WiFi at all and others can connect like myself but have random issues with no internet from time to time

Mines working on 5GHz 160hz, but sometimes I’ll just have no internet connection (it’s still connected to the WiFi) - I have to disconnect from the WiFi and connect again for it to work.

I’m using ASUS RT-AX82U - 5GHz allowed Upto 160hz - I’m running 1gig internet so last thing I want to do is try running at 80hz as I’ll loose speed

When it does work it works great 😊

PLEASE FIX THIS ASAP APPLE

I've seen a couple of people post my issue: I have no problems connecting to wifi with TP-Link Deco with three nodes at 160mhz and I get very good speeds. I also have no problems connecting at 80mhz when I forced the network to use that. However, whenever I move between nodes, ie move around the house, I get booted from the network, and whenever I leave the house, and come back, the same occurs. It really just has troubles with reconnecting to the network, in whatever form that may be, and forces me to sign back into the network, password and all, despite it recognizing it should be signed in already. If Apple engineers want to grab some logs from my phone I'd be up for it, I'm a software dev so I should be tech literate enough to help out in that regard.

Turning off VPN is not the solution. We never have used a VPN and still have the same issues as many others. My 5ghz bandwidth only goes up to 80hz so that is not the solution either to turn of 160hz.

We have updated our iPhone 15 devices to iOS 17.1 and we still have the same issues. So use of a VPN or 160hz bandwidth is not the sole reason for these issues because we use neither. All other Apple devices in our house are on the latest software and don't have internet or data issues. It is specific to iPhone 15 devices.

Same problem, brand new 15 Pro Max with an Orbi router system. Had no problems w my old iPhone 12 Pro Max, now I have to restart wifi constantly to restore internet. Worst thing is, I don't know it's disconnected until i try to do something internet-related on my phone, so I'm missing mail and like items. I rely on my phone for work, so unless Apple responds within this week, the phone is going back and I'm buying a much less expensive iPhone 14.

Orbi 960 setup, i.e. Wifi 6E, 1 router + 3 satellites, fully wired backbone, and going from iPhone 14 Pro Max to 15 Pro Max meant that as soon as my iPhone 15 Pro Max jumps from the main router to one of the satellites it loses connection. In my case, turning off 6E on the iPhone doesn't help. Turning off private MAC address doesn't help. Turning Wifi off/on on the iPhone doesn't help. No VPNs running, either. And my "iPad Pro 11" Gen 3" still continues to travel from room to room without losing any signal as my iPhone 14 Pro Max used to.

Initially I blamed Orbi, so went ahead and replaced it with a brand new Eero Max 7 setup, i.e. Wifi 7 (not that it matters for iPhone 15), 4 identical devices (in 1 gateway + 3 extender mode), and guess what? The exact same issue!! Perfect 6Ghz connection to the gateway, but no connection to the extenders. Argh! More correctly, the extenders see the phone connecting at 6Ghz, no problems. And the phone shows it is connected to my network. Just like under Orbi. Yet, the little circle thing keeps spinning forever next to my network name, effectively killing any connectivity, including cellular. This is not okay... Eero has two features: Turn on Legacy Mode in case 6Ghz devices don't work. Didn't help. It also allows to turn off 5Ghz for 10 minutes. Didn't help. Although I am not sure if that actually makes just the gateway go into legacy & 2.4Ghz-only mode or all extenders as well...

I am now walking around the house with my iPhone's wifi off, hoping that the meager AT&T cell signal around me will be enough. When I need the full bandwidth, I go to the room with the Eero gateway, turn on my iPhone's wifi, do my thing, turn it off, and walk away. Hardly the Apple experience of the yesteryear...

I am disappointed that iOS 17.1 did not fix this.

Are your devices setup to send the same SSID?

Note that the only Apple devices to support Wi-Fi 6E networks are:

  • MacBook Pro (14-inch, 2023) or MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2023)
  • Mac mini (2023)
  • Mac Studio (2023)
  • Mac Pro (2023)
  • iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro Max
  • iPad Pro 11-inch (4th generation) or iPad Pro 12.9 inch (6th generation)

So unless you have one of those, they won't even using 6E and so only your iPhone would find any errors involving the way your Wi-Fi access points are implementing 6E (or 7.)
