Hi there ismeapple11,

If your AirPods (3rd generation) are not running the latest available firmware (6A300), first ensure that the device you are pairing the AirPods with is running the latest version of iOS, iPadOS, or macOS. These articles show how to back up and update:

Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Update macOS on Mac - Apple Support

Once the device is fully updated, follow these steps next to update the firmware:

  1. Make sure that you have a Wi-Fi connection and that the AirPods are within Bluetooth range of your companion iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
  2. With the AirPods on, listen to music or other audio content for at least 30 seconds.
  3. After 30 seconds, put the AirPods back in the Charging Case and close the lid.
  4. Use a Lightning cable to connect the Charging Case to power. Wait 30 minutes for the firmware to update. The lid of the AirPods Charging Case needs to be closed during the entire process. If it's opened at any time, the update is interrupted and it starts over.
  5. After 30 minutes, reconnect the AirPods to the iOS, iPadOS, or macOS device.

 Check the firmware version again:

  • iOS and iPadOS: Go to Settings > Bluetooth > AirPods.
  • macOS: Option-click the Apple logo, then choose System Information.

If something else is occurring, please provide more details so that we can continue to assist.

Cheers!
