IOS17 notifications
In brief IOS17 on a 12pro I’ve had numerous issues
The latest is I can’t have sound notification on FB messenger unless I have on screen alerts
any suggestions greatly received 🤷🏻♀️

When Looking at Settings > Notifications > Messenger, are you given the choice of adding a sound for the notification?
If not, check with the Messenger settings within the app, as they may have their own options.
Since Messenger is not an Apple app, and if you're still having issues with notification sounds for that app only, you'll want to check with the app developer: How to contact an app developer - Apple Support
