Onscreen keyboard moved to mid screen - now unable to view item responding to...IPad pro 2016, last IOS16 update.

Updated IOS16 recently (before IOS17 tossed me out of support chain).

It was the last IOS16 update and the keyboard moved from native/always bottom of screen location to midway.

This now overlays (obscures but allows entry from keyboard) anything I may be attempting to write until I hide the keyboard. I then need to bring it up to type further. This means a back and forth procedure that is nearly obscene.

Is there a reset or known procedure to get this back to it's home position?

  1. Tap a text field in an app to make the keyboard appear.
  2. Touch and hold the keyboard button  in the lower-right corner of the keyboard.
  3. Slide your finger up to either Merge or Dock and Merge, then let go.
