need newer OS than Mojave

Trying to get newer OS than Mojave 10.14.6 on MBAir 7,2, 13", early '15, core i5. Failed so far. 1) what is the OS limit for this machine? 2) exactly how to get it when "update" only mentions Catalina, 3) are versions 11.0 thru 14.0 too much? 4) do I need to get Big Sur first then up to 12.0, 13.0, then, etc." TIA much!!

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 10.14

A MacBookAir7,2 can be updated to run macOS "Monterey".

Read How to download and install macOS - Apple Support. Scroll down to Monterey 12. You don't need to install any interim versions.
