iPhone calendar spam

How can I delete spam calendar invites? The spammers send the invite to my e-mail address and it automatically loads into my calendar. I don’t want to “Decline” because then they’ll know it’s an active email address. And I don’t see a way to delete the invites. I’m using an iPhone 12 Pro, running iOS 16.6.1. There are no “Subscribed Calendars” to delete in Settings, and no random Calendars in the Calendars list.

Solution for me was to search email for the original sender (was on outlook account), delete mail then go to Settings, email accounts and toggle the calendar option for my outlook account sync (and selecting delete local calendar). Toggled back on and re-synced and calendar is now free of the spam invite. Annoyingly, with the original suggestion, when doing the 'Cut' and 'Delete' the Calendar app reponds with 'Delete this appointment and respond to Organiser'... this is exactly what I dont want it to do.... e.g. Confirm account active and welcome myself to some 'suckers list' for future annoyance... does need to be fixed with a 'Delete and do not respond' as this could potentially lead to further exploits / vulns. Not impressed at all.

I've tried several of the suggestions below and the spam went away. However, I have a new calendar problem. When I went to add an event, it already had a spam invite and some crazy long url at the bottom.

Any idea how to make this go away? I was able to remove it from one day for the event I needed to create but it shows up on every single day when trying to add something. What is going on and when is Apple going to address these calendar issues?

Mine is coming from a junk email folder from one of my Outlook accounts. For me I don’t interact with it in calendar at all. I go into the Apple mail app and delete the items in the junk mail folder.

I wish Apple didn’t let those items show in the calendar in the first place. They don’t show on the Outlook version of the calendar. I also turned off all the preview on calendar Outlook options even though they weren’t showing there anyway try to help the IPad. All the junk just shows on IPad.
