iPhone calendar spam

Solution for me was to search email for the original sender (was on outlook account), delete mail then go to Settings, email accounts and toggle the calendar option for my outlook account sync (and selecting delete local calendar). Toggled back on and re-synced and calendar is now free of the spam invite. Annoyingly, with the original suggestion, when doing the 'Cut' and 'Delete' the Calendar app reponds with 'Delete this appointment and respond to Organiser'... this is exactly what I dont want it to do.... e.g. Confirm account active and welcome myself to some 'suckers list' for future annoyance... does need to be fixed with a 'Delete and do not respond' as this could potentially lead to further exploits / vulns. Not impressed at all.

I have the same type of device with the same iOS version as you described. I also ran into trouble with deleting spam invitations, but appear to have been successful. First - I went through settings to make sure I (or my children) hadn't inadvertently suscribed to a spam calendar (there were none). Then, I went into outlook and cleared the junk folder for any email accounts I had (this deleted one of the spam invitations). Finally, in the calendar app, I performed a long press on the spam event and selected "cut"...that seems to have cleared them without having to decline the invitation (and in doing so, confirm that this was a valid email address, which would have surely invited additional spam events).

-go to setting type: calendar

-then account: in my case clicked put look

-turn off calendar.

all your manual invites will stay , all spam will be removed

This worked. Went to first event day and held invite down, pressed “cut” and it greyed out. Then went to the next day and clicked each one but this time I could “delete event”, which then deleted the original event and all others. Thanks!!

I'm having the exact same problem after upgrading to iOS 17x. This comes from the sync between Mail calendar invites to the Calendar app.

The best thing to do to secure yourself is to remove all your accounts from the built-in Mail app and use the individul mail apps, if they're non-iCloud apps.

If you decide to keep your account or have iCloud mail, make sure you turn off notifications to declined calendar invites- Settings --> Calendar --> Toggle off 'Show Invitee Declines'.

Also, you can block the sender.

Regardless, Apple is supposed to be more secure than Android, and this feature makes users more exposed. This is a security flaw that has a potential to exploited easily.

Had this recently and none of the above worked. So, I’ve found the following two options to work;

1) Delete the associated email account in settings; mail; accounts; delete account- then re-add account

2) open emails and try search the invite title/number of whatever it appears in calendar and delete email and you’ll find it deletes calendar event.

these are my two proven ways to sort out these pesky spam events.

Hi. This happened to me too and I was unable to delete it through calendar but I found the fix. Go to your junk mail and either search the topic of the invite to find the spam email generating the calendar entry or just empty your junk mail folder. Once the email is gone, the calendar entries associated with it will disappear too.

I went into settings > calendar > accounts > unselect your email DO NOT DELETE IT!

check calendar to make sure the event is gone then go back into accounts (see above) and re-select your email. Go back into your calendar and it should be gone (may take a minute, make sure all of your calendars are selected)

I tried that with a little modification and it worked. I got lots of unwanted daily invites for the next 2 months!! Pretty annoying. But all were duplicates of 3 different phrases. So go into the calendar app, then on the top right on the magnifying glass (search) I typed the first 1-2 words of one of the invites and it populated all of them. I made sure that none of those were legit invites (but normally I don't have invites that start with those words like "try our..." or "save tons..." Anyway, you can customize your search words so only the unwanted invitations show up. Then long hold on one of them and it will select all of them and give you the option to "cut" like GordonLu1 said. Then I clicked on the search window and long held and clicked paste just to finish the cutting action. Then click the gray "X" on the search window to delete the garbage that I pasted. Do this with the other versions of the invites and it will clear them! The other option is to search them and long click and delete, but the only option after you click on "delete" is to "delete and notify" but I did NOT want to notify who ever invited me that I am deleting it and that I exist, so they won't send me more spam invites. I have iOS 17.5.1 and iPhone 14 pro

Oh my!! Finally I was able to delete these invites. That long press on the spam finally eliminated them. Thanks for this advice.

I successfully deleted it by go to junk email then delete the actual mail they send

I just spend 3hrs trying to fix the issue according to some of yours advice, NO LUCK. I spammed every single "winner" e-mail and trashed them but for a while now I can Spam all I want they always send new ones "Yeti" had 30 even after I spammed 12 already.

Anyway, go into SETTINGS- Privacy & Security - Calendars - Google Calendar and hit NONE I hope that does the trick 😊

This is how I deleted mine. First of all I went into the first day the appointment appeared in my calendar. I held my finger on the appointment and it came up with the option to cut. After this I tried to follow another users advice to click on the next day and repeat the same thing. It did give me the option to delete but it would have notified them, causing more spam. I therefore decided to repeat my first step of pressing on the appointment again and cutting. Thankfully this finally deleted the appointment. Very annoying but finally it’s gone!

My exact problem! Everything solution online has unsubscribe or delete calendars but that’s not the issue. I can’t find the email invite in my email_ only in my phone calendar. Just started after I updated to iOS 17 .0.1.

I have this exact problem also. And I’ve tried all the frikkin work around. And even searched the specific emails in my inbox to block the addresses. But some of them are not coming from an email that I can specifically find. So no way to block the contact. And I don’t want the invites sitting there so I declined them. This only started after the iOS 17 update.
