I can't find my Macintosh hd disc in disc utility

I'm trying to upgrade my MacBook Pro software however I am unable to find the Macintosh hd disc. the error message is this disc isn't formatted for this software. It's an internal disc but it's my name. Would that be the disc I want and if so how do I change it?

When accessed through Disk Utility in the running system, you are running off Macintosh HD (or whatever you may have renamed it). That drive can NOT be erased from there, because it is actively being used by the system and by Disk Utility.

The generally preferred method is to:

• use Software update. if the version you are offered is too advanced, then manually use:

• Mac App Store -- for the specific version you want. if not immediately available, use theses links:

Ventura 13

Monterey 12

Big Sur 11

Catalina 10.15

Mojave 10.14

High Sierra 10.13

My disc options are Applessdapos12j media- Internal physical disc- could that be the disc that I need to use and should I rename it?

My other option is

Core storage logical volume Mac OS extendedJourneled encrypted

I had already downloaded the version of Monterey that is compatible with my laptop but when I try to install it says the disc isn't formatted
