iPhone 15 CarPlay Not Working

My Apple CarPlay worked great on my iPhone 14, and does not work with the new iPhone 15 USB-c. The car only has a USB port, and I’ve tried multiple USB to USB-C cables and none work. What’s going on? It’s a 2023 Mazda CX-30

Same thing with the 2017 Honda civic and my iPhone 15 Pro Max. I’m honestly disappointed to see that Apple hasn’t addressed this yet. I love this phone but I love CarPlay more, and I might have to switch to something else if this isn’t resolved.

This is an update on my situation. I have an iPhone 15 ProMax and a Pioneer DMH-4660NEX receiver. I had been able to connect Carplay to the Pioneer receiver, but the navigation apps did not work well (bad directions, unnecessary turn, inaccurate locations etc). After talking to Pioneer and Apple, each blamed the other and had no solutions. I finally figured out that the 3d calibration setting on the receiver had to be reset. This is not mentioned in any of the Pioneer literature. I found this advice on a random blog post. Now the navigation works fine, both on Waze and Apple Maps. What a relief!

Now the issue I have is a smaller one. The phone will connect Apple carplay every time with an Apple cable to the receiver. It will connect sometimes wirelessly but not always. I have reset all the Bluetooth setting and WiFi setting many times and the problem still persists. I can' figure it out. One odd thing I have noticed is that the Pioneer has two different Bluetooth channels that show up on my phone. Sometimes one works and other time, the second one works. Anybody noticed this or have any idea why one receiver would broadcast two different Bluetooth channels? Thanks, Brian

My iPhone 15 Pro is also facing the same issue, unable to connect to CarPlay via a USB-A to USB-C cable. Even charging through the car's power outlet doesn't work for my phone. Despite displaying that it's charging, no power actually gets into the phone. I've attempted using a USB-A to USB-C adapter to resolve this, but the outcome remains unchanged. As an Uber driver, I'm now limited to working for very short time before my phone completely runs out of battery. I can't even risk playing music. By the way, my car is 2020 Accord EX-L

To all: This solution works!

I had the same issue with CarPlay not working with my new iPhone 15. I tried a few cables, no changes. I own a Chevy Impala 2018 and I got the idea to reset CarPlay in my Car’s Menu system. Since then I don’t care what cable it is, they ALL work and CarPlay works just fine. Try resetting your CarPlay in your car’s menu system.

This also works with other car systems whether you have CarPlay or My Sync or whatever.

I got a same cable yesterday and it worked this morning, no issues, but tonight I got "connection error" message, LOL. I tried to restart the phone but it didn't help. It shows that the phone is charging but I have not confirmed if that's actually true. Battery was >50% this morning, and about 25% tonight. Bluetooth functionality works fine, that was never an issue. Previously I used apple cable with USB-A to USB-C adapter. I think this is is some power issue with the USB-C port. I'll try to reset the Volvo infotainment system next. After that I will go ask for new phones from Apple (me and wife); maybe they will notice the problem then.

Hi I posted this a few times now. Have you tried it?

In one of its weirder anti-competitive moves to date (since Apple doesn't seem to sell its own solution to this problem) the latest iOS 17 update, iOS 17.1.2, Apple seems to have rendered the Anker USB-A to USB-C cable inoperable. After the update, I got a "device not supported" message when I plugged it into my phone, and sure enough, it no longer worked for CarPlay on my 2020 Honda CRV. Why do we keep buying products from a company that holds its customers in such contempt?

Yes, that is the exact cable that I bought on Amazon and it works perfectly.

I urge people who are still having problems to go back through this thread and read the posts by the people, like myself, that have had success. I’ve gone into detail explaining step-by-step how I did it, but in a nutshell, get the right cable, completely reset your cars CarPlay and delete any and all phones that were previously paired. (You might have to do this a few times before it works). I also deleted all of my paired devices in my iPhones Bluetooth settings. Make sure your phones iOS and APPS are all up-to-date. Once it started working with the cable it then started working by Bluetooth. Everything works now

Been there done that. Everything that everyone has mentioned in here has been tried. Nothing helps. Reset the entire system, about 10 different cables, delete from the phone and system, and even reset the iPhone itself. Its great some of this stuff works for some but it does not work for everyone. There is at least one guy on the Jeep forums that both his and his wife's devices work fine. This is by no means the norm as most still say theirs do not work. I still believe its a hardware issue that cannot simply be fixed and some are just working while others dont.

Same issue for me on my 2021 Jeep Wrangler.

Worked with no issue for the iPhone 14 Pro.

iPhone 15 Pro - works eventually, I have to plug/unplug the phone multiple times. Not an engineer or anything, but I'd have to assume it has something to do with how USB-C negotiates the connection (which side of the cable is down and which side of the cable is up)?

Haven't tried USB-A to USB-C, for sure an issue with USB-C to USB-C.

Used Apple branded USB-C to USB-C cables only, issue persists.

In Deutschland bekommst du USB-A auf USB-C Kabel in schwedischen Möbelhäusern. Ziemlich preiswert.

Hello, I had the same wired Carplay-Iphone15 problem. By chance I found a cable that works. After all, it's been 6t weeks in a row now. (Alpine ILC 702d with iPhone 15Pro) All previous iPhones with USB A had no problem.

In Germany you can get USB-A to USB-C cables in Swedish furniture stores. Quite inexpensive. Please make sure that it is the cable with number 2333 type E2024 and not the cable with number 2232 type E2033. And I assume that both are also data cables, since they transmit them perfectly on the PC.
