To my knowledge there is no 8th generation of any iPod model.
Check on the following page; Identify your iPod model - Apple Support to identify which iPod you have.
Even if you are unable to identify your exact iPod from that page (and you should be able to), post again with the following information, which will help us to decide whether there is an available update for your iPod:
- which iPod your looks like
- which software version is currently on it (usually found in Settings/About)
- capacity (how many GB of storage it has)
