How to open PPTX files on an older iMac

I am running a 2012 iMac with macOS Catalina. (10.15.7) If Keynote and Microsoft Power point won't download from the App Store because a newer version of macOS is required, and I am told my iMac is too old for macOS upgrades... what are my options? Is this apples way of forcing me to buy a new computer? They won't give me access to my files?

The free LibreOffice v7.6.1 (current) supports macOS Catalina or later and can open all manner of Microsoft documents including your Powerpoint (pptx) documents. LibreOffice is an MS Office clone so there is quite reasonable compatibility.

MS Office for Mac Mini - Apple Community

LibreOffice 4.0.6.2_MacOS_PPC works in OS X 10.5.8 (last official PowerPC version).

LibreOffice 4.3.7.2_MacOS_x86.dmg (and x86-64?) works in OS X 10.6.

LibreOffice 7.0.4 works in macOS 10.11 and 10.14.

So, I'm assuming the latest version works in 10.15.7...
