Apple Vision Pro is now available in the U.S.

some iCloud data isn't syncing

Just upgraded from iPhone 14pro (ios 17) to iPhone 15 pro (ios 17.0.2) and set up the new phone via icloud backup. All data loaded in except for my messages, health data, and keychain/passwords. I get an alert in settings

`Some iCloud data isn't syncing. Your end-to-end encrypted data stored in iCloud can't be accessed on this device. It includes saved passwords and data from Health and Maps. Verify your account information to resume syncing.`

When clicking resume syncing, I enter the passcode for the phone and get a new popup to reset end-to-end encrypted data which I do not want to do so I don't lose that data. I have other trusted devices on my account that can access the data (at least the messages as far as I can see, I can't see health data on mac).

I tried wiping the phone and setting it up again from the backup, entering the 6 digit code sent to my trusted mac when logging in and I was able to get messages to load in but still none of the other data and I still get the same notification in settings. I've spoken with 5 advisors at this point who all told me my only option is to reset the data, aka delete it. Not sure if there is any other way? I have multiple trusted devices, the correct login info, and can see that the data is present in icloud, just can't be synced to the new phone.

Are there any other ways to verify the account information for icloud on the phone so that the end to end encrypted data can remain in tact and sync to this phone?

"Under settings I had a notification that some of my data wasn’t syncing,

and when I clicked resume sync I got the pop up that I must resent end

to end encrypted data"

I did not get this popup. The spinny thing to the right spun for a while and then stopped. The error message remains on the settings screen.

Hi all

I am trying to set up a iPad mini 6 with the latest software from scratch I to am having this issue where my passwords keychain, health and map data are not syncing. I do get the resume syncing button I click it nothing happens. I enter my iPad and iPhone passcodes, and it says verification failed, I tried resetting the device to factory settings with no luck. I tried signing out of iCloud and back in with no luck.

Can anyone help me with this or does anyone have any other suggestions that I could try?

Same for me. I signed out many times from Apple Account, back on, reboot phone, nothing helps. I always get the message about some data can't be synced. If I click there, it spins, but nothing loads.

When I go to settings/icloud/advanced data protection and want to turn it on, it tells me that my Apple-ID needs to update. Then the circle spins, but nothing happens. The same happens when I try to turn on messages in the icloud settings...

I'm little bit relaxed that some other people got the same error and it's maybe related to the Apple Servers which they hopefully can fix quickly ...

I bought an iPhone 15 Pro yesterday and I got this issue! I’ve tried all the steps mentioned in this thread and all didn’t work.

Last thing I tried was I backed up my previous phone (13 pro). Then I erased new phone (15 pro) so I could start setting it up again, then set it up from the back up I created from the 13 pro.

At first I thought it didn’t work, so I slept. I woke up and the Resume sync issue is still there. I checked the old phone and noticed it now has the issue and its Passwords and Keychain is off so I turned it back on and tapped resume sync.

I went back to the new phone and did the same and I was finally able to turn on Passwords and Keychain and it’s now syncing.

Also, the passwords didn’t appear right away. But it finally worked!

I went back to this thread to share this immediately because I know how frustrating this is!

I came across the same issue after setting up a new iPhone 15 Pro and migrating iCloud data from iPhone 13 Pro both running latest iOS. Even had the same issue when we tried a different iPhone 15 Pro. Problem was solved when we restored the eSIM (i.e., the phone number) back to the old phone, but left the new phone connected to wifi and my iCloud account. We were then able to click the button to resume the sync and it did it very quickly as was really only the Keychain data. Then we moved the phone number again to the new phone. All working great now.

I upgraded to iPhone 14 pro in 10/13/23. On 10/17/23 I had an issue I had never seen happen before (animated files folder with files coming out of it like Microsoft but I have only Apple's file folder in my phone, called my carrier since it came from them, told to turn off phone then reset it. Since that date 2+ months now, still getting can't sync message on iPhone. Encrypted data needs verification code, but verification doesn't work. Only have access to calendar, mail and contacts. Everything else gone. I get calls 2x week from Apple support as they are working directly with iCloud engineering. We have done diagnostics, screen recordings, you name it. Everything I am told to try makes me lose more functionality. I lose everything on my phone everytime I have to wipe and start over. The highest level of security is turned on my phone but no codes from trusted sources work. I have a $1k phone that I cannot save, update, do anything. I am a professional artist, all my work is in my cloud. Unable to work since October. I am working with highest level at Apple iCloud engineering and nothing works. My choice is delete my iCloud filled with photos of my deceased relatives and all my artwork, and start fresh with a new iCloud account. Or I can try to set up using physical keys at the cost of $75 per key and you have to have a minimum of two, or lose everything if I have to start over. And there is no guarantee the physical keys will work. They need to get this fixed. I see a class action coming if they can't figure this out.

On my iMac Desktop: I am getting the same message: "Some iCloud Data Isn't Syncing" Your end-to-end encrypted data stored in iCloud can't be accessed on this device. It includes saved passwords and data from Health and Maps. Verify your account information to resume syncing.

After clicking "Resume Data Sync" it prompts me to type my password into the box. After typing in my password and hitting "Continue". Nothing happens.

same here on MacOS Sonoma 14.2.1:

Some iCloud Data Isn't Syncing

This MacBook Pro isn't syncing your end-to-end encrypted data across all of your devices. It includes saved passwords and data from Health and Maps. Verify your account information to resume syncing.

Trying to press "resume data sync" - no go. sometimes it ask for a password, sometimes it does nothing.

iCloud has become unusable due to its simply being unreliable. Its embarrassing to use this "(fill in what you think it is)" in front of my customers. I am paying for this by the way. iCloud drive downloads tons of GB over and over again. How do you like that mother nature?

I had the same problem exactly and every time I tapped resume sync and put in my passcode it sent me right back to the "some iCloud data isn't syncing" page. I had help from an advisor (which is probably ai) and it didn't help so I turned off my passcode and then as long as you have another apple device connected to your account (for example a mac or iPad) you'll be able to use your mac or iPad passcode instead which will work (at least in my case it did). I've seen this happen multiple times before and this does work.

I never had these turned on, so why am I getting error messages? Come on Apple, start fixing things!! Is this your poor attempt to get me to use the false hood of Two Factor? With todays technology, we shouldn't need two factor, we have face id and finger print, also you should already know where most people live by IP address, and you should know when someone from another area is trying to log into an account that's mine, block them, not me!! You have this false sense you feed to people you are safe with two factor, but your not. Your iCloud got hacked a year ago and you never mentioned it publicly. I got little notice and that was it. You are the ones we have to worry about, and this is why i won't use iCloud to hold keychains and passwords.

SO why is my syncing giving error for something I don't use???
