pages document error code -43

I have a document made with Pages that cannot be opened or sent to trash because error code -43, states "The operation cannot be completed because one or more required items cannot be found"

How can I "find " the item or get rid of the document, which I do not need or want ?

iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.13

My Mac mini running Mojave will occasionally give me this error. It seems that it is a system error, not related to any particular document. It only affects the boot drive. I can move a file to another drive, move it to the Trash & then delete it. The only fix I've found is to log out & then log back in or restart the Mac.

Can you see the file in the Finder, or did you attempt to use Open Recent sub-menu for a file that is no longer on your drive? That is what the macOS -43 error is about: File not found.

The list of files in an Open Recent stack are not removed from it when an individual file(s) are removed from the operating system by deliberation or accident. As you open and close files in Pages, that open Recent file list will eventually shift older files from it.
