Control center disappeared after updating my Apple Watch

I can not even BEGIN to tell you how TICKED OFF I am that Apple changed the control center so that I can no longer access it by swiping up!!!! The side button on my watch does not work…. AND THAT IS A WELL KNOWN PROBLEM with the watch!!! You have rendered the watch essentially USELESS to me by making this change!!!! I took it to Ubreakifix and they would not touch it. So most probably I am going to have to chuck my $700 2 YEAR OLD piece of junk Apple Watch in the trash can!!!!

Totally in agreement with you Mike.

sadly Apple has succumbed to programed obsolescence.

My other gripe is that some of the color on color commands are not readable in certain light conditions.

I’ll probably say goodbye to Apple Watch when the side button fails…

extremely frustrating and disappointing to say the least! Especially since I’ve been a faithful Apple user since the beginning, even still have my PowerBook 540C 😉

and I sent my thoughts on this to Apple.

Also planning to discuss this change in our facebook group for macular degeneration… definitely not good for those of us with vision issues

It isn’t ONLY a visual impairment issue. The watch has a COMMON problem with the power button NOT WORKING… mine does not and now…. I have NO ACCESS to the control center…. regardless of vision…. It is PLANNED obsolescence.

I'm not sure where you're getting this idea that it's some sort of common problem that the side button doesn't work. The fact that yours doesn't, while unfortunate, is not proof that it's rampant. Honda doesn't let me use the windshield wiper lever to turn on my headlights if the headlight lever breaks. If you have a hardware problem, get it fixed.

Are you able to anwer the question I asked? Or did you just want to yell at me (someone who can't do anything to change things)?

There is always a change with Apple software updates regardless of the device. I have to think they have these software engineers who feel they must make changes whether or not it makes sense to the user. I agree that what we were getting swiping up and swiping down should have been left alone. I am not happy with the change.

Absolutely despise that this latest iOS update disallows me from swiping up on the face to get to the Control Center. This should be a PREFERENCE, not moved to a button. It worked fine! I don’t need or want the summary BS that I am now forced to read. I have a phone for that. I want to swipe right to toggle the face, and swipe up to Silence, Find My, Airplane, etc. That was actually helpful. The side button is cumbersome to use. Not interested in this “update.” Sometimes I think updates are highly overrated. I do NOT like Apple assuming what I need/want/like…please give me CHOICES before defaulting to something different. This is an expensive utilitarian device, and I prefer my own customizations.

Watch updated last night and I wasn't able to swipe up for the control center this morning. Spent 45 minutes restarting, unpairing etc. before I found this thread. How hard would it have been for Apple to notify users about this change?

I also use control center a lot and have spent so much time trying how to get it back. Apple should always let us know how things operate when they make changes like this. They always tell you how to use the new features but neglect to let you know the upgrade will eliminate the gestures you are familiar with. I am so happy to find the answer here, but I do agree it is now more cumbersome to open a feature that I often use.

Downgrading isn't supported on iPhones, either.

APPLE…return the control center back THE WAY IT WAS!!! AND FIRE WHOMEVER DECIDED TO RUIN A PERFECTLY GOOD WORKING WATCH!!! It’s no longer user friendly for one handed use or those with disabilities anymore, I can’t use my chin to or Nuckle anymore!
