After latest update on Apple Watch, the control center was gone. I use the ping option often if I forget where I left my phone. This is very frustrating. Now I read that you have to lightly push the button under the crown to get the control center. This is not very user friendly in my opinion and if you press it to hard, it starts the emergency call. Please return the control center to swipe up as it was before.

I'm asking because I really want to know. How is using the bottom to bring up the Control Center more challenging to people with limited vision than swiping up? The information displayed is identical.

It isn’t ONLY a visual impairment issue. The watch has a COMMON problem with the power button NOT WORKING… mine does not and now…. I have NO ACCESS to the control center…. regardless of vision…. It is PLANNED obsolescence.

I'm not sure where you're getting this idea that it's some sort of common problem that the side button doesn't work. The fact that yours doesn't, while unfortunate, is not proof that it's rampant. Honda doesn't let me use the windshield wiper lever to turn on my headlights if the headlight lever breaks. If you have a hardware problem, get it fixed.

Are you able to anwer the question I asked? Or did you just want to yell at me (someone who can't do anything to change things)?

I also use control center a lot and have spent so much time trying how to get it back. Apple should always let us know how things operate when they make changes like this. They always tell you how to use the new features but neglect to let you know the upgrade will eliminate the gestures you are familiar with. I am so happy to find the answer here, but I do agree it is now more cumbersome to open a feature that I often use.

You just have to lightly press the button on the side under the crown/dial….

I too spent ages unpairing & repairing my watch yesterday after the last update, because I heavily rely on the swipe up feature for quick controls…then came across a comment which said to lightly press the button under the crown and the control centre still comes up as normal…

How is that a helpful update? Used to be I could just swipe up--easy. Also easy to see if I accidentally put the watch on Silent Mode. Now I have to press the power button on the side which maybe doesn't seem like a big deal, but when you have arthritis in your fingers, you Don't want to press buttons. WHY do programmers think they have to change things just for the sake of changing? Update security. Leave the rest of my stuff alone. Or at least give me a choice--do I want certain parts of the updates or not. Can I remove updates I don't want. QUIT CONTROLING MY DEVICES!!!!!

Sure, keep repeating “use the side button”

But it is easier and much more convenient to swipe up to access the control center (a frequently used feature) than to press the side button.

We swipe on our phones all the time.

That bottom “button” was removed and folks had to learn to “swipe” to access just about everything. We have been conditioned to rely on the “swipe” movement.

This access change to Control Center is a big deal and personally I disapprove.

I sent Apple my complaint.

People will keep repeating it until people stop asking where the Control Center is or freaking out because they think it has been removed.

In your opinion. Keep in mind that not everyone has the same needs or preferences that you do.

Well, then, if you disapprove, obviously, Apple should change it. ;-)

The swipe up has been repurposed, and I very much like the change, as it gives me access to more functions from the screen. And I like the single press on the side button to open the control center also; it’s much easier than fumbling in the dark of a theater to swipe up to turn on DND.

I am very much looking forward to seeing how the Smart Stack evolves.
