Can't scrub ahead in songs anymore in Apple Music on iPhone

I have an iPhone SE. My software is up-to-date.

This just started happening to me recently (within the last month maybe).

I used to be able to start a playlist, then click on the song, and a volume slider would show up, along with a scrubbing slider, so I could scrub ahead and back in the song.

The volume slider is still there, but the scrubbing slider is gone.

This is more than annoying. If I'm trying to share a certain spot in a song with my band, I can't get to it quickly and efficiently, and have to start the whole song over from the beginning, and wait to get to the spot I want to highlight.

Any clue as to why this changed? And how do I get it back?

Hey there Jakehotep,

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities.

Just to confirm, are you viewing the song on the Now Playing screen? We ask because per the following resource, it should still be possible to scrub through a song when dragging the playhead on the Now Playing screen.

Check out this link for more details: Play music on iPhone - Apple Support

Adjust the volume, scrub through a song, and more

The Now Playing screen contains additional options for controlling and accessing music.
* Adjust volume: Drag the volume slider.
You can also use the volume buttons on the side of iPhone.
* Scrub to any point in a song: Drag the playhead.
* Navigate to the artist, album, or playlist: Tap the artist name below the song title, then choose to go to the artist, album, or playlist.

If this is not what you're seeing, try restarting your iPhone, and test the issue again. While restarting may seem like a simple step, it can often help with resolving some unexpected issues like this: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support

If still not seeing the playhead on the Now Playing screen after restarting, let's also ensure that your iPhone is updated to the latest iOS version as well: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Updating brings the latest features, security updates, and bug fixes, which may be able to help with the issue you're currently seeing.

Keep us updated on the results.

Take care.
