can't send or receive IMAP/POP mail in Mac Mail

I have configured a new e-mail address with Rackspace using IMAP. They have confirmed all setting are correct. However, I cannot send or receive email using Mac Mail. Have spent almost 2 hours on this. Have repeatedly deleted and re-added the account using correct settings with no change. Any help is appreciated.

iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.13

First, you have to be certain you can use that email address and password to log in to WebMail.


"Webmail" is just a fancy made-up word for launch a Browser, surf to you're email provider's site, and log in and check your mail.


If you don't see any mail in your inbox, send yourself a test message, preferably from another account, but in a pinch, from the same account using Webmail.

Yes, the host's webmail application shows my emails coming and going. I can send & receive from their webmail app, I can send & receive from my iPhone, but cannot send or receive using the desktop Mac Mail application - with one exception: I can send/receive emails from the host's support address in the desktop Mac Mail application, but no other external addresses will send/receive.
