I have purchased an Apple Watch from Amazon, and wish to gift it to someone more than 60 days from now, so I am wondering if I can purchase Apple care + for it without opening the box or activating the Watch? Or should I just wait until I have gifted the Watch and will I be able to buy Apple care then?
In most regions the time limit to add AppleCare+ is 60 days from purchase, and when adding after initial purchase the device functionality needs to be verified by online testing or in-store inspection (to prove it is not already defective when starting cover). These two conditions will stack against success for adding later so I think you need to Contact Apple Support and put the question directly to the paid specialists.
