No pen pressure/pressure sensitivity on my iPad?

I can’t get pen pressure on my iPad Air 5. I’ve tried both procreate and kleki.com, and the line weight is uniform for both, so I’m pretty sure it’s not a program problem. The iPad doesn’t sense pressure from my finger either, so I’m not sure if it’s my iPads problem or my pen, but I’m pretty sure it’s the iPad???? I can’t find any sources online that have worked for me. Help

Yup, I’m using an Apple Pencil 2. Nothing is working for me still, I’ve tried multiple different programs and they won’t sense pressure from my finger either.

Try a forced-restart of your iPad - as this will often clear an isolated software issue:

Force restart iPad (models with Face ID or with Touch ID in the top button)

If your iPad doesn’t have the Home button, do the following:

  1. Press and quickly release the volume button nearest to the top button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume button farthest from the top button.
  3. Press and hold the top button.
  4. When the Apple logo appears, release the top button.

Force restart iPad (models with the Home button)

Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.

If the problem persists after performing the restart, it may be necessary to reset your iPad settings. While this reset will not cause any loss of data, as a precaution, it is always wise to ensure that you have a current iCloud or iTunes backup before performing the reset:

When you are happy to proceed, you can perform the reset from iPad settings:

Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPad > Reset > Reset All Settings

If the problem still doesn’t clear, the next step is to reset the iPad to factory settings. This will fully erase the iPad - and install a fresh copy of iPadOS. At the end of the procedure, you will have opportunity to restore your backup. As a diagnostic exercise, do not restore your backup at this stage; instead, set-up the iPad "as new" with your AppleID - and then test your Pencil. The objective here is to have a "clean" install. Hopefully all will be well.

After performing this test, you can restore your data and settings from your backup:

Otherwise, you would be best advised to seek assistance directly from Apple Support. You can contact the Support Team using the Support link at top-right or bottom-left of this page. Alternatively and perhaps easier, you can initiate and manage your support cases using the excellent Apple Support App. If not already installed on your iPad, the App can be downloaded from the App Store:

Are you using an Apple Pencil - or a third-party alternative such as a Logitech Crayon or Zagg Stylus Pro? Something else?

While Apple Pencil responds to differences in pressure, third-party alternatives do not have this feature. The Pencil itself senses pressure - and communicates this data to compatible iPad via Bluetooth. The iPad screen interacts with the Pencil to determine position and tilt - but not applied pressure.

You should also note that pressure and tilt must also be supported by the App that you using...
