Shuffle wall paper from an album in photos, and different wallpaper for each desktop is gone.

I have a work around which isn't ideal but is working for me. I exported the Album I want as my wallpaper to a folder on my desktop (2000+ photos) and then I chose the folder. It's now cycling through all the photos for me.

Experiencing the same issue and it is extremely frustrating. Hoping this will get corrected soon. But for now will select a handful of pics and save to my local drive.

For years my wallpaper has been pictures from Photos that shuffle/change every 5 (maybe 10) minutes. I like this option as it's nice memories of friends, families, trips and my garden. Since Sonoma it won't work. Won't shuffle either all of Photos (I know I have A LOT of pictures) or even single albums of trips etc (smaller). When I click on the shuffle option it just defaults to the apple wallpaper. I can choose single photos however, but that's no fun.

It used to be the case that after each OS update, you had to open the Photos app to rebuild the database and make the images available again for screensaver and desktop.

That no longer seems to be working. It's all broken and just rubbish, really.

I honestly don't know why Apple even bother including it in System preferences, it's utterly gubbed.

I too am having the same issue. Contacted support and they did try to help but not happening. Will have to wait and see how this gets resolved.

Same frustration here. Simply want to shuffle the whole Photos without any extra photo selecting step. I love all my photos taken by my iPhone!

I couldn't figure out why my photos weren't cycling, but this works for me (and I've learned something!). Seems ridiculous to have to do this when it all worked perfectly before!

I am having the issue where it only shows the default Mac background and I had this error trying to get it to work: Extension process Wallpaper(36715) exited.
