The precision finding on Apple Watch series 9 does NOT work on an iPhone 13, the way it is designed to work on the iPhone 15. It simple chimes the iPhone 13 like the old watch did.

You are correct. It only chimes with the iPhone 13. I learned this after purchasing it. I also checked with the apple sales both online and at the store before the purchase and everyone said it did work….but it didn’t. As you stated, you must have the series 15 phone.
Thank you for answering. 😊
Yes, Series 9 supports Precision Finding to locate iPhone 13. You can read this feature in: watchOS 10 - Apple
Thank you so much for responding and sending a link for me 😇 !
I had only seen that ability in reviews for the iPhone 15. I wanted to check around before I spent any money because that feature is important to me.
I traded in my watch and upgraded to the pink series 9 and it’s just beautiful. It definitely works faster and loads more information than the 8. I’m really looking forward to the software updates that are expected in October.
Thank you again for answering my question. Kind regards…😊
The Apple watch has limited functionality. It can only find newer iphones. It cannot find airtags with precision finding for whatever mysterious reason. It just works like without precision finding. Here I was thinking it would utilize the N1 chip. Apple? Any plans to implement this missing feature? Weird to update the chip and only use it for iphone finding.... right?
