Files app downloads forever

I sync a number of files using iCloud Drive between my devices. However, I can’t download any of the files using my iPhone - clicking it to start a download just gives me a loading image with text saying “Waiting”.

Have left it for over 6 hours just trying to download a 1MB PDF, but the download doesn’t start. Using cellular data and wifi result in the same issue. Background app refresh has been turned on, and I’m not on low data mode. Haven’t been able to find any solutions - anyone else faces this issue?

Hi mate,

I have some solutions you can try

  • Check iCloud storage, delete files if needed
  • Enable Background App Refresh for Files
  • Toggle iCloud Drive off and back on
  • Update to latest iOS version
  • Try downloading over WiFi instead of cellular
  • Restart your iPhone
  • Delete and reinstall Files app
