Disable Caps Lock Indicator on macOS Sonoma
A feature has been added to macOS Sonoma - the onscreen caps lock indicator.
While i am sure this may be useful for some, for me it is not, is there any way to disable it?

OK maryo10 and others asking, here goes. There is nothing magic about using Terminal for Apple if you follow the steps verbatim and copy and paste the Command exactly as printed from a trusted source.
First you have to be logged on your computer as the Administrator. In other words you need to be logged on and able to make changes by entering your username/admin password.
Here is how to access the Terminal app
Go to Applications/Utilities/Terminal App. Open The Terminal App
Once open Click Return/Enter (you should see your computer name and your user name) Now you are ready to enter the command
Copy and Paste (do not try to write it) the command that yochess posted. Disable Caps Lock Indicator on macOS Sono… - Apple Community The post is the third post I believe.
I will reprint it here but all credit goes to yochees This command has worked perfectly for me. MacBookPro running Sonoma
Make sure you copy and paste exactly as written. No spaces and no deletions.
With Terminal app open and your username showing copy the first line of the command and paste to the Terminal app.
Click Return/Enter and it will ask for your admin password. Enter password and click Return/Enter
First line of command
sudo mkdir -p /Library/Preferences/FeatureFlags/Domain
Now copy the last two lines of the command and paste to the Terminal app.
Click Return/Enter.
Last two lines of command
sudo /usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c "Add 'redesigned_text_cursor:Enabled' bool false" /Library/Preferences/FeatureFlags/Domain/UIKit.plist
Now restart your computer. All done.
Hope this helps.

Yes, this is certainly an annoyance to those doing precision work. I hope this feature is made configurable
Suggest it to Apple:
It is configurable—see my Nov. 30 post—just not with the GUI. But agree it would be better in a System Setting.

This “feature” should be an accessibility option that is user-controlled and either defaulted to Off or shown off with a yes or no to set.
Tell Apple:

But it won't stay off for very long. It's stupidly designed and really distracting.

The Terminal commands work for the small blue icon, but not for the big black on white popup that simultaneously appear on the main screen (see picture bottom below)...
Yes. Super annoying. I did submit a feedback request, and I hope many many others do too. As for now, I'm rolling back to Ventura to avoid this arrow being on my screen constantly since almost everything I do is in caps lock!
Yes I was thinking the same, does not seem possible that Apple introduce such an intrusive feature and do not provide an option to either use it or not. Presumably the next hardware release will be without the Cap Keyboard Light.

I sure hope not. Forcing an on-screen indicator that potentially hides content when it's active? That would be absolutely scandalous.
Or could it be Apple think not using the Cap light is going to save the planet. Anyway I think I know a way to not have this annoying feature appearing on screen, just use the shift key, which will be easy if you can grow a third hand.
Good news!
This morning (October 5, 2023) the icon does not appear anymore. It was probably a test since no update was done in the meantime. I am still on 14.0.
Bad News!
After a reboot it is back again. :-(
Yes! I think you've got it, and you figured it out a day before I did.
I am still puzzling over the variable appearances of a "keyboard layout indicator" in a similar format (white uncials in a medium blue oval). I have 5 keyboard layouts now (down from eleven), and I have only sometimes seen the little indicator. It is intrusive and annoying as well, but less frequent in its appearances.
(Even though you have very many points indeed, you merit new ones for posting this.)
This "feature" is just annoying, by making it compulsory, it's even more overbearing. Why would the designer think a MacBook user should be reminded for turning the caps all the time?
There's already a lot of people addressing the issue, and I would like to put one more point on it, the caps lock indictor is just euro-centric, or Roman alphabet centric. As a Chinese and English typer, the caps lock allow us to shift between typing roman alphabet and Chinese, without shifting the keyboard language, it's nothing to do with whether or not we use Caps or shift to type Caps. Some might have no issue with the new feature as they don't need to type non roman alphabet language. For user like us, the indicator is a dismissive feature, that ignore typing habits of you don't know how many people.
Apple should make this feature optional-- who need an annoying arrow to remind them they turn the locks on.
