Updated MacBook Pro to macOS Sonoma, now battery drains quickly

I posted about not upgrading my mac book air m1 13" and my MacBook pro m1pro to Sonoma because all over the internet I can see issues with battery and you know what happened? my post magickly disappeared !

So I hope they will fix it !

Battery was at 15% and MacBook just shut off and made me plug in power, 14.3, this is so aggravating, have had it on this for at least a month, turned off widgets, no indexing being down, 14 just sucks altogether, trying to ge me to buy a new Mac but I won't do it apple! lol

@Apple, while macOS Sonoma keeps draining and destroying customers' batteries! Are you going to replace it for free if the battery is completely damaged? It seems rude that you guys stay quiet and not respond to any of these battery-draining complaints for a fix. Instead, you focus on releasing another failing prototype product at a ridiculous price. My new MacBook Pro costs $2,700, 100% full charge and my battery only lasts for 2 hours. It seems like you are trying to destroy our MacBook intentionally so that we can upgrade to your other delicious new product.

This is very late but I just came across your post. Thank you for an extremely thoughtful and very nicely written comment. How I wish most of the folks that "look for points" here had the same insightful arguments. Your post also shows that it is possible to keep a discussion going in a highly civilized manner. Even, I am also facing the same Issue. Post Upgradation Battery Drains very quickly and Laptop gets so much heat up. Never expected this type of services from Apple. I feel day by day apple product's quality is degrading. Company was at different level when it was under Steve Jobs.

HI Catalin, what do you mean by "reset and and clean install"? What exactly did you do? This issue is driving me nuts and I can't believe Apple has released such a piece of garbage. I never had this problem before until I made the stupid mistake of upgrading to Sonoma... Also, see my post below (Mar 6, 2024 8:33 PM).

before I could put my mac in my laptop sleeve and leave it for days in sleep mode and when I opened it I would be shocked that it’s still on nearly full battery.

updated to Sonoma and now it won’t last overnight in sleep mode anymore.

I hope so, because this must be wreaking havoc on the battery I imagine.

Yes.. Since installing Sonoma, battery on MacBook Air drops like a lead balloon . jg

Here too, 10% in three hours of idle with closed display and no running app.

You must be the exception, I have a 2020 MBP and it drains remarkably fast just like everyone els's.

What if it has been Several days or over a week?

Issue is 100% resolved.

Also one thing that I forgot to mention is that I have changed the wallpaper so I'm not using Sonoma wallpaper.
