Issue with replying to text on CarPlay with iOS 17

I have the same issue. 2024 Lexus NX 350. Can not do audio texting. When I ask Siri to send a text. It just says what do you want. Or goes round and round and disconnects. Most annoying thing. Dangerous

I’m not sure if the make of car is the issue. I had an iPhone 7, and upgraded to iPhone 11, and my car is a 2020 Nissan Rogue. It work fine either the 7, but when I switched to the 11, and the iOS upgraded, Siri no longer asks me to reply in CarPlay. I must hit reply on the console screen to reply to a text. It seems to be the iOS version 17.2 which is the problem

I have same problem. I have a 2024 Lexus Nx. Fully updated. Still not working.

bought a new apple phone. Out of box. That did not work either. No one’s phone works in my car. Apple says. It’s the car.

Ya, no changes for me either. This 17 update is awful and the length of time to correct it is frustrating! Other people that haven’t done the update can use my car play and Siri without issues but I can’t. This is making me not want to be an Apple supporter!

2022 Lexus NX. I have done every update and followed every suggested fix with no change. I have been unable to reply to a text through CarPlay since mid-October. I reported it to Lexus multiple times. This is my 3rd Lexus. My first two didn’t have CarPlay, they had the Lexus system. I was so excited to have CarPlay and now this for over 4 months and no resolution.

Exactly the same thing with my brand new Hyundai Kona 2024. 1st 2 weeks all was as expected worked like the previous car, then the 17.3 update and I’m getting the location not found after dictating a text instead of repeating the msg. So frustrating when you’re driving and coordinating a pick up.

Same! 2024 Kona Limited. Siri doesn’t work for messaging for either wired or wireless. She will read the incoming message but is incapable of a response and says she can’t “show me the results while I’m in the car.” It’s a major safety issue.

I appreciate the update. Thanks. Just updated to 17.4 and will give it a go. Fingers crossed. I didn't realize it initially but, yeah, the volume of music and other apps doesn't drop when engaging Siri and it likely a big contributor to the over all problem. Hope this gets fixed.

No luck for me either. This is definitely an IOS issue. Siri does not ask if I want to reply. The only way to reply, is to hit the screen, while Siri is dictating the incoming message. Kind of dangerous in traffic. Come on Apple. This is quite serious.

Been having the same issue(s) for several months. Updated two iPhones to 17.4 yesterday, still neither works correctly with CarPlay and Siri on my 2023 Toyota Corolla (no issues until around Oct/Nov last year)

I updated to 17.4 and that provided a bit of improvement but Siri still won’t tell me the NHL schedule correctly or it will say it can’t show me the results while I’m in the car which is beyond frustrating. It’s still a safety issue for sure. Not reliable anymore when in the car, even with the update.

mine is Toyota Corolla 2022 - sounds like could be a toyota thing? (they own Lexus don't they?). The update to 17.4 seems to have dropped the "what do you want" but hasn't stopped siri shorting out when reading out my reply. Also that "no volume drop in music" when reading messages - irritating as **** - I have to keep a pausing the music just to hear my messages :(

I would hope that is not true of Lexus posting falsely. Nonetheless, if the same problem is happening with different cars and different companies - the only thing in common is Apple. I am not trying to throw Apple under the bus, just problem-solve and come to a logical conclusion. It seems to be quite specific to certain companies and/or models. Otherwise, this would be a widely talked about issue if every car had the same issue with ios 17.0+.

I do think it is important to let the manufacturers know, so they can also communicate these issues with Apple.

So far I have seen posts regarding Hyundai, Toyota, Lexus, and Nissan. Has anyone seen any other companies?

Siri won’t read back your message and says “ can’t give you that info in the car “ or you’ll try to respond to a text and Siri says play that song or give that info while your driving with Apple CarPlay 🙄

Began happening prior to recent update out of the blue this past Saturday .

Upgraded to 17.4.1 same exact problem. I uninstalled everything and reinstalled it after the update. It doesn’t make sense to me that Apple cannot fix this issue. There has to be something else going on.
