Issue with replying to text on CarPlay with iOS 17

Same issues with the 2024 Kona Limited. It's driving me nuts. Tried the link below to report the issue to apple and I am not seeing any options for CarPlay. Annoying.

I just categorized it as an iPhone issue and specified CarPlay in the header. Also included a link to this discussion. Hoping the more people contact them, the better chance of it being addressed.

It’s weird. It does this strange stuff on one of my cars, 2024 Hyundai Kona but works flawlessly on my 2023 Lincoln Nautilus. iPhone 12 iOS 17.4.1

We tried multiple phones on multiple vehicles at the Hyundai dealership and they all did the same thing.

Both are wireless CarPlay.

The auto manufacturers and Apple need to play nice together. A friend of mine has an Acura that acts goofy like my Hyundai. Somebody needs to fix this. I use hands free text all the time. Now I can’t. It’ll read messages to me just fine. Just can’t send or reply.

my second time posting hoping we can get a solution. Lexus 2022 NX is the car where Siri is haywire. It’s as if there’s a back loop through the microphone where she can only hear herself. My old 2016 VW Jetta works perfectly.

It's also present in my Subaru Impreza, but not in my WRX.

I am having a similar issue but I am a beta tester on iOS 17.5. It has just been happening for around four weeks. It is so bad that I have stopped listening to messages on CarPlay. Siri asks if I want to respond to a text. I say “no” or “no thank you” and he sends my no or no thank you as a text, after saying “send it” and doing it immediately. He adds the persons name to the beginning of the text message sometimes. So people are getting what appear to be very rude responses from me.

I have turned my phone off and restarted. I have not deleted my car and reinstalled it yet, but lots on this forum have tried this without success. So I don’t think that will help. If you’re waiting for a future update to fix it then keep waiting because I’m on 17.5. I have used the Feedback app to report the issue.

The joke is they keep telling us iOS 18 is going to be all about AI, but they can’t even get a simple task like sending or NOT sending a response to a simple text, they really have dropped the ball Apple.

This seems to have finally been resolved for me. What about everyone else?

Okay…it’s weird but without any updates that I applied all the CarPlay speak-to-text seems to be working. (‘24 Lexus ES300h with IOS 17.4.1.) Could it be that Lexus applied an update without notification because when I updated 17.4.1 initially it still had not solve the problem. Weird!

I think this update made Siri so much worse! My biggest pet peeve is that Siri will now just auto send a text instead of letting me change or cancel it. CarPlay has now become as frustrating as Android Auto is.

My 2023 Land Rover Discovery also has issues with Car Play. The voice playback is now speaking French. When I try to send a text, I have no idea what it is saying. I did a test text and it translated my English spoken text into gibberish. I have a 7 hour drive coming up and hope to fix this soon. Where is the settings for Car Play? On the phone or the car? I'm so confused.

Tried turning off/on Cellular data & airplane mode; didn’t work. I have a brand new 2025 NX 250, this should not be an issue

Same issues everyone else mentioned. I was able to get the voice to text to work again by turning down the System Voice in settings on the car. Now it is sending the texts and not saying “Sorry I can’t do that while you are driving”
