I updated to MacOS 14 and have been unable to format external hard drives. I have tried the Disk Utility app and it just freezes and ejects the drive, while the CLI returns a process 0 (kernel) error (even though the system is not booting from the external drive) and then Terminal freezes when trying to quit. I have tried this of 4 different Macs. I question if Sonoma was ready for public consumption.

I just did two drives and no issue formatting to APFS, GUID. What drive are you trying to format?
