IPhone 15 Pro Max keyboard not registering clicks and some keys are not sensitive

Anyone experiencing insensitive keys on the keyboard? Some keys near the edge of my phone that are noticeably less sensitive and irresponsive than the rest (with and without a screen protector). I have to click pretty hard multiple times in order for the keys to register. The keys that are having issues registering my clicks are Backspace and "P". I tested the demo phones in the store and they all seem normal and much more sensitive.

Can Apple give us an update on this issue ? Is the problem acknowledged by Apple and are they working on it ?

It is obviously significant enough to solve it. Please Apple update us !

I tried using mine 15PM without Apple Silicon case over the last weekend and this absolutely CHANGED NOTHING: lower right part of the keyboard is particularly less responsive, but the touch screen is occasionally somehow less sensitive also near the center.

I have latest iOS installed, currently 17.2.1. I don’t use any screen protector and I have an original Apple Silicon case.

I would strongly advise AGAINST the resetting settings, setting iPhone anew (whether by setting it up as a new device or restoring from the old one), because this will change absolutely nothing. Hard resetting won’t help either, these are all voodoo “solutions”.

I have also extensively tested touch screen using the free Touch Screen Check app, which confirms that sensitivity near the lower right corner of the screen is occasionally/randomly reduced.

So at this point I believe that Apple should made clear whether this widely reported issue is a:

  • iOS problem
  • hardware problem
  • combination of both

I’m sick of doing this research on my own without getting any feedback from Apple. I have paid 1821,95 € for the phone and this behaviour is absolutely unacceptable.

I totally agree. I went to the apple store today and have the staff helped me about this. They tried restore multiple times and tried to reinstall the firmware. still doesn't work. I tried the demo phone for 15 15plus 15pro and 15pm. 15 pm is the only one has the issue. all 15 pm demo phones in the store have this issue. the apple staff stated they didn't notice this issue, no hardware issue, balabala, but the issue is there for sure. i am not crazy. it's soooo different and worse than my 13 pm. apple staff told me they can't even guarantee apple will fix this. they suggested me to return the phone.

No way! I don't know whether to laugh or what but when I removed my Apple Silicone Case, the accuracy of the keyboard is increased drastically and the keys are working normally (no need to hard tap on m, n, l or backspace buttons). I cannot believe it but thanks for posting this. Maybe Apple wants us to carry our 15PMs case free.

Yeah I feel you. The Apple store technician kept telling me that it was software-related. I don't know if that's entirely correct. Some of the demos that I tried at a store didn't have the issue but that doesn't mean other demos elsewhere wouldn't have the issue. If it's software-related, all 15 pro-max should have the same issue but this is not the case. It's been more than a week and Apple still hasn't publically addressed and responded to this issue. They only addressed the overheating issue and are working on a fix. There is a huge thread on Reddit and Twitter about this. I don't know if Apple would ever acknowledge or fix this so I just returned the phone because I don't want to deal with it anymore.

Hi there JustAnotherAppleUser_,

Thanks for stopping by the Apple Support Communities. If you're having an issue with the display response on your iPhone, we suggest the steps below, which are taken from the Apple Support article If your screen isn't working - Apple Support. They're targeted for screen issues:

If your screen is too sensitive or responds intermittently to touch

1. Restart your iPhone or iPad.
2. Make sure that your screen is clean and free of any debris or water.
3. Disconnect any Lightning or USB-C accessories. If your screen works after removing an accessory, try using a different outlet, cable, or charger.
4. Remove any cases or screen protectors.

Should you still need help after that, we suggest reaching out to Apple Support directly. They'll have access to additional tools and resources to further assist: Get Support

Have a great rest of your weekend.
