iPhone 15 Pro Max thinks charger is an Accessory?

My iPhone 15 Pro Max keeps giving me the message “cannot use accessory - this accessory uses too much power” but it’s for my USB-C wall charger, not an accessory. It keeps charging as normal, but the alert keeps going off every couple of minutes. I charge my phone at night and I’m a light sleeper so it’s pretty annoying. Any idea how to stop this?

I’m having the same issue with mine as well as my wife’s. I’m using the cable the phone came with and the charger I got with my 11 Pro Max a few years ago. I’ve never seen this before on any of my other iPhones. Is there any kind of a fix for it, or is it just something we have to live with?

You can add my Dad's iPhone 15 to that list as well. He updated it today, and hasn't received that message. I also checked with him, and he hasn't received it again on the iPad Pro. I haven't received that message again either. At the end of the day, these are computers, not appliances. At least on my end, it's probably just a hiccup if you will.

Thanks for getting back to me about it. If I'm suddenly getting it again, I'll post the additional information. But for the time being, everything seems okay.

Hi there everyone, I have just received my new iPhone 15. upgraded from the iPhone 11.

I am 72, not an idiot but also nowhere near as au fait with the technology as you youngsters.

I opened the box containing the phone and the charging cable but no "plug".....

I have several of those white plugs already. I looked at the actual cable and both ends are identical. I plugged one end into the "15" but saw that compared with the "11" cable, the end is much smaller and therefore looks too small to go in to the plug! I managed to put it in without forcing it and turned it on. Now, I am not sure whether nothing is happening because I have not set up the 15 yet or whether I have done the wrong thing. Isn't this a bit weird? Why make the cable a different size to the actual plug hole?

I am scrolling through all sorts of instructions online but nothing seems to mention the actual plug! I do hope I am making sense everyone and hope I can get some help. Unfortunately I am bedridden right now due to recent surgery, so cannot get in to the APPLE shop.

regards everyone from Sydney, Australia

Almost feel a bit guilty that my wall plug usb-c to usb-c charges my 15 fine, as well as C/C cable in my MacBook Pro. However two different new powerbanks, one of which jump starts a pickup truck if required, can’t charge my 15 without the accessory message everyone on this thread has had thrust in their faces when needing some juice. Yeezus, mind blown 🤯🙄

Maybe I’ll accidentally on purpose lose my phone again in Amsterdam, similar to last week, so I have an excuse to use my bulletproof backup 11 again 🫳🎤💥

I’m having the exact same issue with my 15 pro. While I a. Using a 3rd party adapter, I am using the cord that came with the phone. I have charged my 15 pro with this adapter for the last two days (and my 13 pro for about 1.5years), but I just started getting the warning message now.

The third party adapter does meet all of the recommended specifications; could there be another reason?
