Since updating to Sonoma on my Mac when I use continuity it defaults to the wide camera lens instead of the main camera. How can I switch that back?

Troubleshooting Continuity Camera:

Having just upgraded, make sure you meet the requirements. Make any settings that are necessary. Report back if a change was made that made this work.

I am a different user and the link you provided does not resolve the issue. I am experiencing the same issue, which results in a significant drop in video quality because it automatically goes to the wide lens. This is a problem because I record video on continuity camera to create content. Prior to the update it was perfectly fine.

The only way I can switch it to the main lens is if I choose center stage, which I do not want because I need a stable view that won't shift if I make a slight gesture or move my head. This is frustrating to say the least and is creating difficulties for me to develop content for my business.

Did one better and got on a call with Apple support. After experimenting with a number of different methods, I discovered how to switch lenses:

  1. Click on the green camera icon that appears in the menu bar when you're using an app with the camera
  2. Hover the mouse pointer over your camera's picture. When you do that, you should see a 0.5 and a 1x option as in this image:
  3. Click the 1x option to switch from the wide lens to your main lens.

As you can guess, you can also zoom in and out by clicking and dragging the series of hash marks underneath the numbers.
