can't sign in for iCloud mail on my Dell computer

When I attempt to sign in for iCloud mail or to open iCloud.com, a cloud Connection Error pops up. It says, "iCloud encountered an error while trying to connect to the server." I have consulted with an Apple technician who guided me online. We tried a lot of things, but they were unable to come up with a solution. The computer runs with Microsoft. I can get iCloud mail on my iPhone, but not the computer. Has anyone experienced a similar problem?

Do you know if you previously limited your iCloud Web access using an iOS or macOS device:


"How to manage web access to your iCloud data

You can manage iCloud.com web access in iCloud settings (requires iOS 16.2, iPadOS 16.2, or macOS 13.1).


On iPhone or iPad

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Tap your name, then tap iCloud.
  3. Tap to turn off or turn on Access iCloud Data on the Web.


On Mac

  1. Choose Apple menu  > System Settings.
  2. Click your name, then click iCloud.
  3. Click to turn off or turn on Access iCloud Data on the Web.

When you turn off Access iCloud Data on the Web and then sign in to iCloud.com, you see an alert confirming that iCloud Data Web Access is Off and you can’t access your data. To turn web access back on, you can also select the “Manage access on device” link that appears on iCloud.com and follow the prompts on one of your trusted devices."

If the issue persists, can you provide a few more details? What browsers have you tested with? Also, can you test with other browsers?

Still haven’t reached a solution.


1)“Access iCloud Data On the Web”

is turned on, on my iPhone. Advanced protection setting is off.


2) I am unable to download iCloud for Windows on my pc. After entering my iCloud address, I receive the Apple ID verification code on my phone. After entering the number on the pc, it buffers for a while then I get, “An error occurred during authentication. Please try again”


3)On the search page for apps, it shows the iCloud symbol under “Recommended” and says “Recently added” under the ICloud symbol. “iCloud Passwords” and “iCloud Shared Albums”also shows “Recently added” beneath them.


4)I am unable to access the iCloud.com website. When I enter iCloud in the search engine bar at the top of the page (Google is the default) I get a white page with the iCloud symbol at the far upper left-hand corner. I’ve tried http://icloud.com, too.

If you're getting those types of errors, the correct ports may not be open for the sending and receiving of necessary data packets. Do you use any sort of security software or VPN software? If so, these could be limiting the access to certain ports that are needed. If you do have this type of software, can you sign in if you disable them temporarily? You may also want to try signing in to the site using a test user on your PC if you have one. If not, you might consider creating one to try this out.
