A hyphen appears between email address after iOS 17 update

I was able to get it to stop hyphenating by toggling "OFF" on Larger Text under "Settings>Accessibility>Display & Text Size>Larger Text" AND "Settings>Display & Brightness>Text Size" and putting the slide at the bottom to the middle.

Going into the Books section of Settings and turning off “auto hyphen” worked for me, not sure why books would control iMessage but the dashes no longer appear.

Unfortunately that doesn’t fix the issue. Unless the recipient also views the message in landscape, the hyphen reappears. Apple needs to apply logic that determines email or web links and excludes the hyphenation.

Turn your I phone to landscape mode, type Email/message and then send in landscape mode , works for me after pulling my hair out trying to send a correct long Email address.

I had to reduce the text size so the dash wouldn’t appear. If the person getting the message links to your email through the message it works but it does need to be fixed

Yes!! It’s so frustrating. For work, I send my email address quite often through text message, and it always puts the –. I have to explain when I send my email address not to actually include that when they email me. It should not be this complicated!!

This is pretty amateur of Apple. I just noticed this cause I pumped up the tech size to Max so I don’t have to wear glasses to look at my screen and when I dropped it down to one below the email address fit fine.

I second this, you are correct, the inserted hyphen when the email address is too long actually add the hyphen to the text of the email address, then when copy pasted it includes the hyphen when that was not what was typed.

Apple REALLY needs to fix this ASAP

Hello. I am having the same issue of a hyphen appearing on a long email. Is there a resolution other than updating the phone, and force quitting the app? Neither of these options worked for me.

I tried this and it seemed to work well for longer email names. However, I did need to make my text size much smaller which impacted how I view all my emails. Great for an interim fix but I really hope Apple gets a fix out ASAP. Don't know how they missed this bug during their update testing. I thought I was going crazy the last couple of days seeing the "dash" and trying to figure out why it was happening.

I sent someone a bitcoin address and they sent it to a nonexistent address because of this glitch! It added a dash into the btc address, is Apple going to reimburse me for the loss caused by their bug?

Doesn't work. It will not show you YOUR phone with the very small text, but when you send to someone who doesn't have the small text, it will still show up on theirs. Now, with this NEW iOS, if you send an email to someone, they can't click on it and automatically go to emails and send one like you used to do. Why is Apple going backward on the iOS? I have 17.2.1 on my phone.
