MacBook M1 Pro 2020 Serial number unable to lookup

Hello there! Good Morning/Evening.

Recently I have purchased a MacBook Pro M1 2021 Silver from a local shop, the serial number on the box and system they both are matched but when I lookup the serial number Check Coverage it keep saying:

" We’re sorry, we’re unable to check coverage for this serial number. Please check your information and try again. "

Apple's tech support on the phone didn't help me. They said that this could not be! I do not know what to do. There are no answers to the links that are on the technical support site.

Please kindly help me.

Thank you 🙏

What exactly is it you "do not know what to do"? Is the Mac in need of service that depends on the serial number?

The S/N is also on the bottom of the Mac in very small quite faint lettering. If it's not, tampering has taken place.

You can also get the S/N: Apple Logo > About This Mac.

Are there any two that agree or are they all three different?

What's on the box is the last one I'd depend on. Boxes can be switched out, labels printed incorrectly and etc.

If you didn't buy additional coverage, you don't have it. All new Macs come with a one year warranty. Did you buy a new or a used Mac? If when you started it up the first time, a new Mac will display the setup screen. If you didn't get a setup screen, you bought a used Mac regardless of what the seller says.

Are you copy and pasting or typing in the S/N? Where exactly are you seeing thet message?

If you do Apple Logo > About this Mac and copying that displayed S/N you can eliminate typing error possibility. You can also click "more Info" and get coverage info there.

You didn't give what your OS version is so the exact path may be slightly different.

Don't use the S/N on the box. Use what the OS tells you.

Did you copy and paste the S/N as I suggested?

Did you open About this Mac and check the S/N and coverage there as I suggested?

It's not a matter of you writing detail to me; I'm not able to look up anything for you.

It's a matter of you using the correct S/N gotten the correct way in the right place.

If you're still using the box's S/N that's not what I've been suggesting. And you haven't said what you find in the two ways I've suggested.

Good luck working this out.

Verify this is a Genuine Device:

A. Going Through the Seller:

First, see if this is genuine. If not purchased form Apple, then contact the company, requesting a return. Based on personal experience, I'd recommend getting expensive Apple devices directly from Apple to avoid scams and the like.

B. Verifying Genuine AirPods:

Perform the following --then report back the results.

  1. Get the Serial Number: Find your Mac Model Name and Serial Number - Apple Support
  2. Enter the Serial Number here: https://checkcoverage.apple.com/.
  3. View the Results: If all shows up as a M1 MacBoo Pro, then you are fine. If not, then (A.) it is a fake device or (B.)is it an error in Apple's device database. and that is likely why you are getting the issue..
