You ordered through Amazon, you you will need to return through Amazon.

No need to shout. Since Amazon has its own return policy, they should also take care of accepting this as a return via that policy.
If they are telling you that this is Apple's responsibility, this would be wrong as Amazon would have to work this out with Apple, not you.
