Can I use photos app to curate my photos on battery power?

photos app is taking too long to curate my photos and since it only curates photos when charger plugged in , so its not possible for laptop to be connected to power source always. Is it possible to to do curation part on battery power also? if not apple should make an update in software.

MacBook Pro 13″

No, it is not possible to force Photos to curate the photos Library while on battery power. But you can let the Mac connected to a power source over night, when you are not using it and let it run then. We can use Photos without problems, even if the curation has not finished. It is only necessary for a nicer layout of the Days, Months, Years.

How large is your library? For my main Photos Library with more than 50000 photos and videos it took several months to finish the curation. I did not mind, as I am rarely looking at the Days, Months, Years, as it is hard to recognize the photos in the tiled view, because they are cropped and only a curated subset is shown. I prefer to seem photos as I have cropped them in the correct aspect ratio in All Photos or my albums.

As léonie advises, I often leave my mac plugged in and on overnight so it can continue background operations.

But the Mac only has to think it's plugged in--so when I'm off using my computer at a coffee shop or something, I plug my computer into one of those portable battery charger things. My Mac Air will last all day without that thing, so a relatively small and cheap one is all I need, and it convinces the computer that it can keep going. It's display doesn't dim, and it doesn't turn off when I look away for a minute--still it lasts a long time.
