As no one here can actually see the phone, I suggest you take it to your local Apple Store and have them look at it.

I have a scree protector on my iPhone SE 1rst Gen & has no problems. Had the Apple Store (again) put on the new SE 3 2 weeks ago. one. I find the home button very difficult to use. Frustrating. The store has a great gizmo for getting the film on snug. Much better than I could do. Any work arounds other than going back to the store?
