We have a iPhone that we forgot the password.

You can follow this guide to erase an iPhone that you've forgotten the password for: If you forgot your iPhone passcode - Apple Support

If the iPhone has Find My enabled, you will need the password of the Apple ID that it was signed in to in order to setup the device again.
